Here are links to local groups we have mentioned on the site — and made good use of for the project:
* In August 2019, Cam Valley Forum published the River Cam Manifesto “to urge everyone to wake up to the fact that all is not well with our rivers.”
Other sources of local information include:
Jonathan Spain’s blog (includes local rivers)
National organisations with responsibilities for and information on relevant environmental issues include:
Another useful source of information includes Chalkstreams — a website dedicated to the conservation and restoration of all chalk-streams, from writer and conservationist Charles Rangeley-Wilson. It includes this blog post on Chalk Streams First, a suggested approach to over-abstraction that “has the potential to completely re-naturalise flows in the Chilterns chalk-streams”. Chalk-Streams First is supported by a coalition of The Rivers Trust, The Angling Trust, WWF UK, Salmon & Trout Conservation and The Wild Trout Trust.
We are very grateful to the following organisations for their funding and other support for the Waterlight project:
Cambridge Community Foundation
Meldreth Parish Council and Futures Group
South Cambridgeshire District Council
And we also thank those who helped our Crowd Funding initiative and Gallery Writers members past and present for all your contributions.
