A walk along the Mel with local schoolchildren

On May 23rd, poet Clare Crossman, local historian and conservationist Bruce Huett and filmmaker James Murray-White accompanied more than 30 Year 6 children from Meldreth primary school, with their teacher, Mrs Willan. Together, we went for a walk along the river and some of the children made these films…

A film by Alfie

A film by Mia and Ruby

A film by Eddie, Cuan and Steve

A film by Ty and Billy

Save the world around you big and small

Some of the children were so taken by the ideas which came out of their morning talk about river spirits in other parts of the world that they decided not to make a film but instead to write stories that might invent spirits for the river Mel. You can read these at the end of our Your Waterlight stories page.
